          Paul Herbert
          Picture
' Skink and Nikau palms '   SOLD
Paul's paintings  have a strong graphic design influence in the use of shapes, bright colours, eye to detail, 3D forms, photo realism - all developed through graphic design skills learnt over his lifetime.
Paul has formulated a style heavily influenced by his skills as a graphic designer plus his fascination of nature’s wilderness and wildlife... so called “jumbled randomness” of shapes and colours.
Paul reinterpreted these into an ordered imposition and repetition in his painting’s structure. Repetition of the Nikau palm allows for this segmentation of the painting  which reinforces  his style of  “ordered       randomness”.

" I have an intuitive creative process, which begins by absorbing a myriad of impressions through my senses.  After time , these impressions become distilled into stylised elements, often defined by a black line.
I love my homeland Aotearoa/New Zealand. The land, sea and sky are a constant source of inspiration
I am influenced by European Impressionists and New Zealand painters, especially Rita Angus and Don Binney."

Miranda's paintings are in private collections around the world including in, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

'I grew up in Denmark and have lived in New Zealand since 1988. I moved to Raglan in 1996 and love living, surfing and creating art in this place I now call home.
My work is generally reflections on my own experience of grappling with life....
I prefer to work intuitively, starting out with an idea but allowing the painting to lead me to where it wants to go'.
